Why College Students Are All Tom Haverfords

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Winter break for most is filled with friends, family, overwhelming awareness of everything you haven’t accomplished due to persistent family members (ty Aunt Joan for the quarter life crisis), and a reset button of some sort for your body, brain, and emotions. Per usual I did not choose the normal route and spent most of my time recovering from a semester of accumulating coughs and sniffles with various antibiotics and cocoa puffs. However, this seemingly unfavorable experience brought me to a new serious component of my life – Parks & Rec. I’ve written a few articles on Amy Poehler before, but today’s reflection is going to be on Tom Haverford. Essentially, I came to the horrible and beautiful realization that all college students are Tom Haverfords. Addicted to social media and swag, self conscious and acutely aware of our faults, and an unbelievable knack for trendy hashtags. Here are all the reasons you need to either rethink your lifestyle or embrace the #RentaSwag

1.     Addicted to Social Media

2.     Biggest Strength is Throwing a Party

3.     Materialistic

4.     Judgmental

5.     Optimistic

7.    On that Cash Money Grind

8.     Unfailingly Persistent
