The Urban Outfitter’s Experience: From An Insider’s P.O.V

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Towson chapter.

Breyana recently started working at the new Urban Outfitters in Towson. She  decided to give us the inside scoop and tell us what it is REALLY like to work there.

This semester  has already proved itself to be exciting.  Towson’s football team is actually winning and Urban Outfitter has opened only a few blocks down from campus.  What could be better than that?

I have the honor of being an employee at the newest Urban Outfitter’s and it has been amazing!  A lot of hard work and dedication has gone into opening the store and making sure it is absolutely perfect for every customer that steps foot into those two enormous glass doors.

But I must admit- everything has not been as glamorous as it may seem.  Getting the store open and perfected in record time meant having to be at work by 6:00 a.m. to lift boxes filled with skinny jeans and oversized sweaters.  Hours upon hours were spent folding basic tees and hanging up high-waisted pants.  We unpacked hundreds of boxes and discarded pounds of cardboard.

In only a few days, an empty building was turned into every shopper’s heaven.  The long days and early mornings were tough, but they did allow all of the employees to bond and become proud of the store we have created.

Helping out with the opening of a store was more work than I could have ever imagined, but it has allowed me to gain a greater appreciation for the place that I now consider a second home.  All of the hard work has definitely paid off.  Not only do I get to work alongside the most stylish and unique clothes offered, but I am also working with a great group of people.  We all share a common interest in fashion, music and, of course, offering each of our customers an incredible experience when shopping at Urban.

If you haven’t had the opportunity yet, take the trip down York Road to check out Urban Outfitters.  I promise you won’t leave disappointed… or empty-handed!

Have you been to the new Urban Outfitters? What do you think about it?
