4 Things to Start Doing in College

Welcome to your 20s! It is a weird age packed with emotions and ups and downs. This is usually the time where you debate your major, figure out your bills and attempt to maintain a social life. These tips will help you start the growing up phase.

1.) Start making your bed– sure, your parents constantly nagged you about it when you were in elementary school. But REALLY, you need to start making your bed. You are in your 20s, and it is not acceptable to have your bedroom look like a pigsty. You are not a bum, you are a college student. Your bed is the focal point of your tiny room; therefore, it is imperative that it is made. It’s a quick 2 minutes, y’all.

2.) Planning. Everyone should start planning. This is a good tip that will benefit your near future. I would suggest starting with simple things such as planning your grocery list, then planning your week such as when to work on assignments. Next big step is having a rough draft of your future. For example, in 5 months I will have saved 250 dollars to go on vacation for my birthday. Planning is very beneficial!

3.) In college, you should start paying attention to your diet. This is something I struggle with but I know that positive change is based on a good diet. Wondering why you are sick? Perhaps it is because you are lacking a crucial nutrient! Being able to eat healthy (or attempt) will not only help your overall health, but can do things such as make you happier and more
confident.

4.) Realizing cause and effect. This is so important to realize in college! It can be based on simple or dramatic things. Being stressed out about school can cause you to bite your nails. This is 100% not good for you and disgusting to those around you. Cause: school, effect: nail biting aka: fix immediately. This can be an easy fix, relaxing and figuring out how to stay on top of school, work and figuting out how to maintain relationships with family/friends can help you kick this bad habit! That was a basic example, but being able to apply this cause and effect rule to your life will help you in numerous ways whether you are 20 or 70!
