John Legend: Voices with Power to Impact the World

So you didn’t heed the warnings and missed the totally sold out John Legend lecture on Tuesday. Or, you were first in line at the box office with your student I.D. to claim your rightful spot in Hogg Memorial Auditorium. Either way, we could all use a little reliving of the epic night with Legend on the Forty Acres. While this post isn’t complete with audio of his swoon-worthy vocals, it does cover a few key points that were discussed and is full of “my school is better than yours” photos to add to your collection.

-Voting is important. So is knowing what items you need to vote (proper ID).
-The importance of America’s education system.
       -Teach for America’s significance
       -If you have an unpaid internship for a school district in an impoverished neighborhood, you could be                 eligible for the Show Me Campaign’s $3000 stipend.
       – Fair pay for teachers

Someone asked him to run for president. He said he wouldn’t run because it’s very different from musical fame. If people don’t like your music, they just don’t go to your concerts. If people don’t like you as a presidential candidate, they do everything to try to bring you down. 
Someone asked about music and fine arts needing more funding. He feels its of the utmost importance.

Really cherish college years and make the most of them, make sure they don’t go to waste.
Oh, and he sang.
