5 Must-See Comedians on Netflix

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Stony Brook chapter.

Is it Friday yet? Are you stressed about exams? It’s so easy to lose track of time and forget to enjoy the little things in life. Break out the pizza and ice cream. Be prepared to laugh until you cry. Here are 5 comedians that are bound to make you turn that frown upside down!

1. Trevor Noah

In his new special, “Afraid of the Dark”, Trevor Noah jokes about growing up in Africa, his own personal adventures, and how awesome Obama actually is! Trevor Noah attempts all kinds of accents including Russian, Indian, British and Scottish. He even attempts to impersonate Nelson Mandela! It doesn’t get any better than that. Trevor Noah can make anyone’s day one hundred times better!

2. Amy Schumer

Fearless and bold! Amy Schumer isn’t afraid to say what we are all thinking. Whether it’s dating, partying, the struggles of being a female, or our slight obsession with Bradley Cooper, Amy Schumer knows how to put on a show!

3. Anjelah Johnson

You may already know her as Bon Qui Qui. Anjelah Johnson is hysterical in her Netflix special, “Anjelah Johnson: The Homecoming Show”. Her sassy and humorous personality will inspire you to become a strong, independent woman!

4. Iliza Shlesinger

Iliza Shlesinger is quite the character. Through her sarcasm, sound effects and crazy facial expressions, she explains all things women: makeup, a girls’ night out, and dating. You name it! Iliza Shlesinger is a rising comedian you can’t miss!

5. Louis C.K.

Last but not least, Louis C.K. His offensive jokes and twisted humor will have you in tears. Louis C.K can take any situation and turn it into an unforgettable skit. A true knee-slapper! In fact, Netflix is releasing a new stand-up special about Louis C.K on April 4, 2017. Don’t miss it!

Whether you prefer romance, horror, or fantasy, you can never go wrong with comedy. It’s nice to switch things up every once in awhile and just laugh at corny jokes. Comedians are a reminder to the world to not take life so seriously. It is okay to laugh at yourself every so often. Who are your favorite comedians?
