Meet Jessica Pate, Class of 2016
Major(s):Â Political Science and Management Studies
1. Where are you living this year? I live on Linden Street with some pretty average people, but I am from Inver Grove Heights, MN!
Â
2. How are you involved on campus? I’m pretty involved on campus. I used to play hockey for the St. Olaf Women’s Hockey team but I got too many concussions so now I help coach (bow down). What takes up a lot of my time now is the Manitou Messenger, where I’m the Business Manager. I also am a member of Love Your Melon, Investment Club, and College Republicans.
Â
Â
3. Do you have a favorite memory from Olaf? I would say living with my best friends and going to the Ole Store for breakfast way too often.
Â
4. What are the top 3 things you have learned being a student at St. Olaf? Definitely don’t be afraid to ask for help (as clichĂ© as it sounds), be kind to everyone, and remember that college is gonna be stressful but you will always get through it.
Â
5. Post-grad plans? What a daunting question. I am currently applying to jobs in the cities in the areas of public relations and communications. I plan to go to grad school after getting some work experience and a better knowledge of what I want to do!
Â
6. Favorite prof? I got a couple. Sian Muir, Kris Thalhammer, Sean Goldsworthy (FAV ADVISOR)
Â
Â
7. Celeb crush? Steph Curry MMMM I can tell you nothing about basketball but I can tell you he is beautiful.
Â
8. If you could name one person at Olaf to be a future president of the US of A, who would it be and why? Megan Skelly no doubt. Girl is gonna do things!
Â
9. What do you think you’ll miss most about St. Olaf? I’ll miss how nice everyone is how easy it is to have all your friends in the same city.
Â
10. Any advice to the younger students? Just take it day by day.. it will all work out in the endÂ
