15 Things to Add to Your Summer Bucketlist

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at South Carolina chapter.

It’s that (dreadful) time of year again: FINALS. There’s so much to do: classes to study for, dorms to move out of, and (most importantly) summer plans to make. Well, we have a few ideas for you! Whether you’re stuck at home or traveling the world, we’ve come up with a complete summer bucket list to help make sure that you make the most of your time off before you go back to school.

1. Take a road trip. Everyone has dreamed of getting in the car and going somewhere new, especially during the summer…but no one ever does it! Make this the year! Get some friends together and GO. You could drive across the country or only across town; as long as there’s good music and plenty of car snacks it will be a memorable experience!

2. Catch up with old friends. Use your three months home to spend some time with your high school friends. Call them up and see how they’re doing, they probably miss your gorgeous self more than you know, and you might have forgotten how much you miss them as well!

3. Do some service. This one may seem lame, but helping out in your community will feel so good and it’s so much better for you than sitting home and watching Netflix

4. Binge watch a show on Netflix. Well…a little downtime never hurt anyone! You do have three whole months, use the time to detox and catch up on all the shows you missed throughout the year!

5. Explore your hometown. So many people live in one place their whole lives and still never know everything it has to offer. Go on an adventure! Find the best pizza place in your town or go thrift store shopping! You’ll never know the hidden gems your town has to offer until you look.

6. Plant a garden. Or just spend some time outside. Chances are it’s going to be gorgeous out, take advantage of the weather and maybe find a new hobby!

7. Go on a picnic. Grab a bunch of your gal pals and a bottle of wine and head over to your favorite sunny spot. Make sure to pack a basket of your favorite goodies!!

8. Craft. Bring your Pinterest page to life! Craft gifts for your family and friends! Work on your cooler painting skills!

9. Go on a health kick. With so much down time, it’s the perfect opportunity to work on getting healthy (and maybe creating those abs you’ve always dreamed of).

10. Try a new look. This could be as big as getting a major haircut or just trying on an outfit you’d never think to try. Variety is the spice of life, make sure you spice up your life as much as possible!

11. Say yes to everything for a day. Take 24 hours to be a little more spontaneous than usual and see where the day takes you!

12. Host a water balloon war. This might sound a little juvenile, but getting everyone together for an end-of-the-summer water balloon war will be so much fun! And remember, it’s not a good time until someone gets hit in the face!

13. Teach yourself something new. Summer is the perfect time to find a new hobby. Learn how to longboard or how to rock climb. You can impress all your friends with your new skillz!

14. Go to a concert. You don’t have to spend all of your money on a festival in the middle of nowhere, but grab some of your friends and see one of your favorites or even a local band!

15. GET READY FOR FOOTBALL SEASON. We all know that no matter how fun summer is, nothing compares to good ole Willie B on a Saturday afternoon. Go find some new dresses, jerseys, bows or jewelry and get ready to get your sandstorm on!
