Fashion Tips for the Never-Ending Winter Months!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

All girls know the horrible conflict of trying to dress up and look cute in the winter months without catching hypothermia. The struggle is a never-ending nightmare for 6 months out of the year when your college town seems to be in the Arctic tundra.

As much as we may want to throw on that brand new backless dress that’s been silently sitting in the back of our closet begging us to wear, the below 10 degree temperatures say otherwise.

Fortunately, I’ve come up with a few tips to looking your best on your weekends, when winter seems to last forever.

1.Thigh High boots aka the HOLY GRAIL.

Not only are they cute, and versatile but they’re WARM! You can pair these boots with skirts, dresses, pants, etc. without freezing your legs off.

2.Sweater dresses.

Sweater dresses are your new best friend. You can feel like you’re in a comfy oversized sweat shirt all night, yet still look fashionable. Who wouldn’t want that?

3.Wear an old jacket.

If you’re like me; a completely broke college student, investing in new fashion forward jackets may not be the best idea.

On you weekends it’s a better idea to wear a cheap jacket you wouldn’t be heartbroken forgetting behind at a party or bar. You can easily just take it off when you get to your destination and not have the guilt of accidentally leaving your prized $200 North Face at Chad’s frat house.

4. Pair sleeveless tops with flannels or cardigans.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Adding a sweater or flannel to your outfit is casual, cute, and keeps you warm. If you’re out and want to take it off, you can simply just tie it around the waist.

5. Remember Spring is here before you know it!

It’s hard to accept things we don’t love (ech hem snow), but it’s important to constantly remind ourselves warm weather is right around the corner, as are our ever-fabulous spring and summer wardrobes that come with it!
