5 Tips For A Successful Game Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Saint Mary's chapter.

Football season is (almost) officially upon us. Keep these tips in mind to have the best game day possible.

1. Find the perfect outfit

Every girl wants to find a cute outfit to wear to the games, and let’s admit, “The Shirt” can get boring. While trying to pick out the perfect outfit, keep in mind that you’re going to a football game. Wear something that is cute, but comfortable and also works for the weather. Nothing is worse than shivering in the stands on a cold November day.

2. Don’t let your phone die

Make sure you leave campus with your phone fully charged! The tickets to get in the game are normally saved on your phone, so you will be out of luck come game time if your phone is dead. If you’re someone who Snapchats, Instagrams, and tweets at a tailgate, which tends to use up a lot of battery, buy a portable phone charger and carry it with you!

3. Go to any tailgate you’re invited to

Tailgating is a must during Notre Dame football weekends! Even if you don’t personally know the host of the tailgate, if you’re invited, go! The people hosting love to meet SMC students. Going to tailgates is a great way to meet friends and socialize before the games. They also normally have snacks, which is ideal for putting some food in your stomach before the game. No one wants to wait in a long line and pay $7 dollars for a hotdog once you get into the stadium.

4. Make friends with the people sitting around you

Be social at the games! Everyone sitting around you is there for the same reason you are: to cheer on the Irish! You never know, the girl sitting in front of you may turn into one of your best friends. The more you socialize with the people sitting around you, the more fun you will have at the game.

5. Order food right after the game so you’re not waiting for hours

After a long day of tailgating and watching football you will definitely be hungry, along with everyone else who was at the game. If you’re planning on ordering Jimmy Johns, pizza, Chinese, or whatever else you may be craving, do it on your way back to campus! If you wait too long after the game ends to order food, you may end up waiting over an hour for it to arrive.
