“I can’t stop pinning!” “Why did I get on this before I did my homework? Help!” “Simply addicted.” These were just a few of the statements I heard about Pinterest, the visual photo-sharing website before joining. I forced myself to wait until after fall semester’s finals, and I am glad I did. No words can describe how amazing this website truly is. Being the artsy, blog-loving girl that I am… I knew it was going to take over my life—but I’m not mad!
Pinterest is simply an elegant website that allows you to share your favorite photos of anything and allows other people to browse these interests and ‘re-pin’ them. It basically provides categories for you, and once you see something you like, you can ‘pin’ it your personal ‘board’. I started with the ‘Food and Drink’ category. There literally wasn’t a recipe I didn’t want to try. Thank goodness for Christmas break and the gym—I made about three different types of cookies and chocolate dips. What is even more neat about the website is that not only does it usually show a website of where you can purchase the product or how you can make it, but you can also invite friends from your email account or Facebook and browse through their interests.
Just to hopefully get you interested if you aren’t aware already, here are just a few of my favorite pins I have searched under categories that interest me.
1. Due to my obsession of Wedding cakes, naturally I had a ‘Wedding Cake and Cupcake’ board.
2. I also have an obsession with home décor, so I have a board titled, ‘For the Home.’
3. Looking through the category of ‘women’s clothing’ is a weakness—I want to buy everything. Here are a few favorite pins from my board titled, ‘My Style.’
Now you have an idea of all the things you can browse through categories by viewing a few of my personal favorites. I truly recommend that you sign up for Pinterest if you haven’t already, because there are so many beautiful things to browse through. The innovative ideas people come up with for weddings or for the home in the ‘Craft & DIY’ category is also phenomenal. I promise you’ll be pinning away!
