The Best Bookstores in Providence

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Providence chapter.

In any city there are unfound treasures. These can be clothing stores, coffee shops, etc. But as self proclaimed literature nerds, HerCampus Providence looks for book stores. While Barnes and Noble is near and dear to our hearts, used and rare bookstores are the core of Providence, Rhode Island. When Borders closed their business for good, we realized how important it was to keep these businesses flourishing! So HerCampus Providence has compiled some of the best used and new bookstores in Providence.

4. Paper Nautilius Books

Previously known as Myopic Books, the bookstore was forced to change it’s name due to copyright issues. That being said, Paper Nautilus books is one of Providence’s unfound treasures … unless you are a RISD or Brown student. Located near both of those campuses, the bookstore tends to cater to the needs of a RISD or Brown student. The website states: “[The] emphasis is on art, architecture, photography, film theory, cultural studies, philosophy, history, fiction, poetry, Rhode Island, gardening, and cooking. We also have a generous selection of foreign-language books.” However, if you are interested in those topics, it is one of the best options for an amazing selection and an affordable price! This bookstore offers new, used and rare books to all students and fellow book nerds! Before you leave the Providence area, Paper Nautilus is a bookstore you have to visit atleast once!
