One of my all time favorite seasons is fall, especially in the Pacific Northwest. Changing leaves, sweaters, and warm drinks galore! With the weather getting colder, sitting in bed watching Netflix is hard to resist, but instead go out and explore!  Here are five fall adventures that are sure to be loads of fun!

1. Visit Halloweentown

Okay, who didn’t love the Halloweentown movies growing up?! Well now, you can actually visit Halloweentown, no magic bus required! It might not be the real Halloweentown, but it’s where it was filmed. St Helens, Oregon, about 25 miles away from campus, puts on a month long Halloween celebration complete with costume contests, a Monster Mash run, and so much more. On October 10th, Marnie herself will be lighting the Great Pumpkin. This is definitely a must on my fall bucket-list. Get a group of friends together and hit up everyone’s favorite childhood town.

2.  Roloff Farms

You can’t say fall without pumpkin and what better way to celebrate the fall season than a trip to a pumpkin patch!  For any fans of TLC’s “Little People Big World”, the Roloff Family Farm is just over in Hillsboro, Oregon! They are open Friday through Sunday 10:00am to 6:00pm. Did I mention the best part? Admission to the Pumpkin Patch is totally free! With pumpkins as far as the eye can see, pony rides, and loads of fall fun; this is a total must see.

3. Coffee Hour

With the weather getting colder, there’s no better way to warm up than with a classic cup o joe. As much as we all love Commons coffee, sometimes you just a change. Cathedral Coffee is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and just relax with friends. Here’s the best part, it’s within walking distance of campus!

4.  Corn Maize in Sauvie, Island

A classic fall activity is visiting a corn maize! Starting in October, the Sauvie Island Corn Maize is open Sunday through Thursday 10:00am-6:00pm and then Friday and Saturday till 10:00pm. If you are looking for more of a fright, after October 10th, check out the Haunted Maize open Friday and Saturday nights from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.

5. Take a Hike!

Right across the river, is the beautiful Forest Park. With so many hiking trails, there are endless opportunities to explore our own backyard. Fall is a great season to go and enjoy the amazing beauty nature has to offer. Grab your sneakers, a water bottle, and hit the trails!

In her free time, she loves browsing the aisles of Target, exploring Portland and drinking chocolate milk. When in doubt her outfits are almost entirely from Old Navy and you can normally find her in Kenna Hall where she is one of the Resident Assistants.
