Courtney Collins

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oswego chapter.

Sophomore Courtney Collins is co-captain of the Oswego State women’s field hockey team. She has been playing the sport since seventh grade and couldn’t imagine stopping after high school. Her sister, Kelly, played at Oswego as well.

“To this day I am so happy with my decision to come here and play field hockey. I have met some great people and have played some great games and have an excellent coach!”

One of the reasons Courtney came to Oswego was so she could play field hockey with her sister. They never played on the same team before and wanted to before Kelly graduated. Her mom also attended school here. While visiting Kelly, Courtney fell in love with the school.

Her favorite part of going to Oswego is the lake. “While walking to class, you over look the lake and it is the most amazing thing I have seen.”

Courtney keeps busy outside of field hockey. She is part of ENACTUS, which is the business club on campus. She is also a peer advisor for the incoming freshman and a member of SHRM, which is a club specifically for human resource management majors. Courtney also participates in intramural sports. After doing all of her clubs, Courtney still finds time to work in the sports information office and spend time with her roommates and friends. “I like to stay busy and I’m very active so I’m always working out, doing homework or just having fun doing something!”

Over the summer, Courtney plans on doing an internship with her parents’ small business, Village Sports, and hopes to shadow an HR position there.

After college, she plans on using this experience to hopefully get an HR position somewhere in Colorado. “My ideal job would be to work for a ski resort in an HR position in Colorado and snowboard for the rest of my life. We will see what I can accomplish in the future!”

I'm a junior. I like to read, watch T.V. and sleep. Aaaand that's it.
