How to Stay Glowing All Winter Long

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Every girl knows that when the cold weather comes, our skin get dry, dry, dry. But, trying to stop your skin from turning as dull as a desert can be easy, as long as you know how to do it! By following a few simple steps, your skin will stay silky smooth all winter… and the boys will be begging to touch it.

Exfoliate
Making sure that you are constantly removing the dead skin cells from your body is important to making sure your skin doesn’t become dehydrated. Investing in a loofa or some exfoliating body wash for your showers will be a lifesaver in the end. By eliminating all that built up deadness will help your skin glow after every shower.

Don’t forget to lather up
Moisturizing after a hot shower is one way to make sure you skin is not only hydrated, but that it will retain a lot of moisture throughout the day. Especially when it gets colder, make sure you are using a deep conditioning lotion, as your body needs it now almost more then when the sun is out.

Stay Hydrated
What you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it. Drinking lots of water throughout your day will help keep you hydrated and your skin looking ravishing. While having a glass of wine after a long day isn’t going to do too much damage to your skin, make sure you are getting at least 8 cups of water throughout your day, if not more.

Dress Comfortably
When the weather drops, we tend to pile on layer after layer to stay warm. The problem with this is that we don’t let our skin breathe. A walk to class can leave you sweaty under all the different articles we wear. And the worst is when we wear a fabric that ends up irritating our skin. Even when the temperature drops we need to remember to give our skin some time to breathe. When at home, throw on some sweats and remember to just relax for a while. Its good for you and good for your skin.

Having luscious skin during the winter is just a glass of water and a shower away, so don’t end up looking like frosty the snowman or a scarecrow and keep your skin glowing all winter long.
