Why OU?
1. I chose OU because it is only 3 hours from my house and I thought it was the perfect compromise of getting away, but still remaining close to home. I also fell in love with the campus; it feels so homey here!

When did you know you wanted to teach?
2. I know its cliche’ but I have known that I wanted to teach my entire life. When I was little I use to set up my stuffed animals and baby dolls as if they were students and pretend to read. Teaching just became very natural for me at a young age.

Can you explain a little about Fellowship?
3. The Teaching Fellowship is an amazing opportunity that is offered through the Patton College of Education that allows selected students to receive a master’s degree paid through the university in addition to splitting a classroom with a teacher. I will be teaching the afternoons at The Plains Elementary at the same time I go through the process of getting my master’s in Curriculum and Instruction.

Can you give some words of advice for students who might want to pursue a similar career goal?
4. For anyone who wants to pursue education or work with children, my advice is get started as quickly as possible. Teaching is not made for everyone, therefore the sooner you get into classrooms or working with children the sooner you will be able to tell if it is for you. It is very important that at the end of the day you love what you are doing!
