HC: What are some of your hobbies?
AC: Soccer, cooking, reading fiction and thriller books, and watching TV.
HC:What are some of your greatest accomplishments?
AC: First of all, I was able to get into Northeastern- which is not an easy task. Once here, I have been able to maintain a good GPA and received a scholarship. Athletic wise, I was proud to be named captain of the NU soccer team in my junior year, and even more happy when we won the CAA championship last Sunday, and earn a place in the NCAA tournament.
HC: How did you get involved in soccer?
AC: I started playing for my school back home in Peru when I was 7 years old, and then I was invited to join a very competitive club team a couple years later.
HC: Tell me some of your soccer role models?
AC: One of them was Ronaldo. He was the best soccer player that I saw growing up. He had all of the skills I admired in a soccer player when I was young. Another one is Kaka, not only because of his skills in the field but also because I admire and share his beliefs and way of life.
HC: What is your training schedule like? Do you practice every day?
AC: In the fall, we practice every weekday from 12-2.30 pm, and we have games mostly twice a week (usually Wednesdays and Saturdays). In the Spring, we don’t have a tournament, so we play soccer three times a week at nights, and we go to the gym 2-3 times a week in the mornings.
HC: How do you balance between studying and playing soccer?
AC: I think being both a student and an athlete has helped me be more organized and I learned to manage my time and use it better. When you know you have practice every day, or that you will be traveling and missing class, you realize that you have to do schoolwork whenever you have some free time.
HC:What advice would you give to young players?
AC:Never give up. The “soccer world” is a tough place, and many times things will not go the way you would have liked. But one has to remain strong and be confident, train hard, and follow your dreams. times a week in the mornings.
