Congrats on making it through the year Huskies! Now that finals are wrapping up and all we can think of is having a little fun in the sun, its time to start shopping for bathing suits. With all the patterns, prints and colors out there, it can sometimes be overwhelming. Have no fear, because I’ve compiled a list of the hottest bathing suit trends for this summer.

Brights:

After being tucked away for months, break out those bright colors! These happy colors and summer go hand-in-hand. This year, go for a bright neon color. Not only will you stick out, but it will make your tan look even darker (score!)

Edgy:

For those of you who want to take a walk on the wild side, animal prints are still very much in style. Try to stay away from colored animal prints, (we’re not trying to look like Snooki!) Go for classic brown and black leopard print, or black and white zebra.

Throwback:

You may think I’m crazy, but be different and try a one-piece. I know what you’re thinking, “what are we, 12?!,” but I’m not talking about wearing a Speedo brand one-piece from 1995. Strapless, one pieces that are fitted give a cute, 50s look.

Girly:

Summertime is the perfect time to unleash your inner girly-girl with your clothes, nail polish colors and accessories, so don’t stop when it comes to bathing suits. Suits with ruffles or paisley are perfect for flaunting your feminine side.

Patriotic:

What better way to celebrate the 4th of July than showing off your red, white and blue pride? Not only on the 4th, but throughout the summer show off your patriotism with either wearing a red and white bikini top with blue bottoms or vice versa. If you’re feeling really patriotic, check out this American flag bikini on Wanelo!

Nautical:

Anything nautical is obviously appropriate for summer. Coming from the Ocean State myself, I love anything with anchors on it, including my bathing suits.

Boho:

If you think of the 60s and 70s when you think of things tie-dye: stop. You can find all different tie-dye patterns and colors that are fun and playful, and perfect for summer.

Customize:

Victoria’s Secret’s bathing suits are awesome. While they can be a bit pricey, they’re high quality and will last for a few years. Not only do they have dozens of styles but they also have a “bikini mixer” feature on their site where you can choose your style of top and bottom, and mix and match all different types of colors and patterns. Check it out, go crazy with them and have fun!

Have a great summer collegiettes, we’ll see you back in the fall for more style tips and advice! HCXO
