Adulting, Otherwise Known as ‘Everything Your Mom Was Right About’

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

There is a lot that you learn when you live by yourself in college. You thought it would be easy, but there’s so much to remember between classes, a social life, buying groceries and cleaning. Here’s some of the things we have learned so far… most of which our mothers told us from the beginning:

Pizza everyday is not a viable option

Having a nice kitchen is the DREAM… and won’t be happening any time soon

At home, things like toilet paper and paper towels and toothpaste seemed to always be there… now you need to remember to always restock and it can add up

Especially little obscure ingredients for when you decide to be fancy and make a Pinterest recipe

You should probably do your laundry more than once a month

You told your mother that you didn’t need to waste money on an iron, but then you go on co-op and realize that dry cleaning adds up

You now understand why your mom got so upset when you left dirty dishes everywhere

Budgets are important. Groceries are more important than a new pair of shoes that you don’t need

You will miss your parents in college
