Here Are All the Best Things About Freshman Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Muhlenberg chapter.

It is hard to believe that my freshman year is about to come to an end.  Everyone always says college is the quickest four years of your life and I believe it.  This was probably the fastest eight months of my life and it’s only going to speed up from here. It’s still hard to believe that I’m even in college. I still feel like I’m a little kid in Elementary School.  Freshman year is the year of adjustments, change, and growing up. Here are some of my favorite things about my freshman year experience:

Designing my first dorm room

I love interior design, so designing a dorm room is right up my alley.  My favorite color is purple, so I knew I wanted a purple theme, so I got gray and purple bedding and pillows.  My roommate and I put up cute decorations such as Christmas lights, succulents, and wall decorations. We have a big carpet to cover the floor to make our room feel like home.

Being independent

I love my parents more than anything.  I am so blessed to have such wonderful parents and I am forever grateful for all they have done and continue to do for me.  Despite the love and appreciation I have for my parents, I love being independent. I like making decisions on my own, going places and doing things on my own, and living on my own.  I just love the satisfaction of knowing I am able to be an independent young woman and I am capable of being on my own.

Meeting new people

I have made so many new friends this year from all over the country.  I have made so many memories with my new friends and I cannot wait to make more over the next three years and meet even more new people!

Well, my first year of college was a success.  I got involved by doing Her Campus, Spoon University, and being a tour guide! I have made so many new friends, gained so much independence, and made amazing memories. I am so excited to continue my time here at Muhlenberg College over the next three years!
