Editor’s Note: In a nearly unanimous vote, Hannah was honored Her Campus-MSU’s Staffer of the Semester for Fall Semester 2015. How long have you been a member of Her Campus-MSU? I have been a member of Her Campus-MSU for one semester.

What made you decide to join HCMSU? I decided to join HCMSU because I wanted to be able to join a publication that allowed me to share my opinions throughout my college campus. I was also looking for a way to meet new people.

What is your favorite part about being a member of HCMSU? I could not be happier with my decision to join. One of my favorite parts about being a member is being able to interact and meet so many new people through interviewing and socializing at different events! I also love the freedom of being able to write blogs and features on things that I truly care about and want to share with our readers.

What are some of your favorite articles that you wrote this semester? One of my favorite articles that I wrote this semester was my feature, “Top 10 Tailgate Must-Haves.” It was just a fun article to write, and it was a cool way to showcase MSU’s pride when it comes to tailgating. I also enjoyed doing Campus Celebrities and Cuties; they were a great way for me to learn more about my fellow peers, and all of them are pretty inspiring people!

What is involved in the process of writing a article? One of my biggest challenges when writing an article is usually deciding on a topic. I usually have a lot of different ideas generated, so usually I try to pick one and focus on it. When picking who to interview, I try to pick people who are doing inspiring actions around campus. I always try to write articles that impact readers in a positive way.

Any stories that you are working on right now? Recently, I volunteered at Gateway Community Services, which assists runaway, homeless and street youth. I was able to learn a lot through working with them and I would really love to share those experiences with our readers. Also, on a less serious note, since Christmas is just around the corner, writing a fun holiday article is on my agenda!

What are some of your biggest accomplishments as an HCMSU member this semester? One of my biggest accomplishments as an HCMSU member this semester was being able to improve my writing, and I was able to push myself outside of my comfort zone when it came to interviewing and approaching people for stories

How did you feel when you were honored HCMSU Staffer of the Semester? I was so excited to find out that I was honored with HCMSU Staffer of the Semester. I really love being a part of this great group of girls and was so honored that they chose me! I look up to each and every one of them and am so glad we have all crossed paths here at MSU.

In your opinion, what made you a good candidate for Staffer of the Semester? In my opinion, every member of HCMSU would have made a great candidate; everyone is a hardworking individual. This semester, I tried my best to steadily produce content and sign up for as many deadlines as possible.

What are you most looking forward to with HCMSU next semester? Next semester I am looking forward to having a role on the HCMSU E-Board! I cannot wait to take on a greater responsibility within the publication and hopefully recruit some more strong women to come write for us!
