5 Reasons Ryan Gosling Makes Us Swoon

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mizzou chapter.

Hey girl, let’s be honest. We can’t get enough. That smirk, those eyes, that hair, those (totally unphotoshopped) abs. Nothing short of sweet perfection, this man has tugged at our heartstrings and made us feel like his “Blue Valentine”. What is it about this hunk that can’t we get enough of? Check it out:

1. He Wants to Change the World.

Excuse me while we swoon. This guy is gorgeous inside and out. What woman doesn’t love a little “activist” in her man? Gosling passionately supports the ENOUGH project, a “project of the Center for American Progress to end genocide and crimes against humanity.” As if his heart of gold isn’t convincing enough, Ryan has also supported PETA, Invisible Children, the SickKids Foundation and the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. This guy wants to change the world, and frankly, that’s pretty sexy. He can take care of us any day.

2. THE Scene.

Yeah, you know which one we’re talking about. THAT one. The heart-melting, butterfly-inducing, why-can’t-I-be-her, kissing-in-the-rain scene. The Notebook. True love set place in the 1940’s, what a perfect combination of passion and Gosling. As if this modern romance didn’t already make us weak at the knees, Gosling and his then girlfriend/co-star Rachel McAdams recreated the beloved scene at the MTV 2005 movie awards. Need we say more?

3. He’s a Part of our Culture

A budding child star in the year 1993, we’ve practically grown up with this man. Move aside Brittany, Gosling’s got you beat ten-fold. He dances, he sings, he acts. This triple threat is definitely here to stay. Want to see more of child star Gos? Check out this video, it’ll be sure to bring out those “oohs” and “awws”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJQvXCoNDzM

4. He has his own Meme

Mr. Ryan Gosling has officially gone viral. Since the Internet launched it’s first “Hey Girl” meme on December 19th, 2008, the world has never been the same. Studying for finals? He’s got a meme for that. Like to crochet? He’s got a meme for that, too. Here are some of our favorites:

5. We’d bring him home to Mom and Dad

Wouldn’t you? He’s got that All-American charm (well ok, kind of, he’s from Canada, but we’ll trade them for Justin Beiber), humble, charismatic, and have you SEEN that handsome face? No wonder his fans petitioned People Magazine after he was beat out for “The Sexiest Man Alive” this year by Bradley Cooper. Simply stated, women want him and men want to be him. Not to mention, he’s family oriented. In an interview with the Huffington Post on November 12th, 2012, Gosling said, “My sister was my best friend and hero growing up.” How cute is that? He’s everything we’d want in a man, so what do you think? Leave your thoughts on Ryan in the comment box below!
