If you thought that 2012 was a good year for movies, get ready for 2013! This year’s theme appears to involve a bunch of sequels and the continuations of movie franchises. Get excited to see to see these films ranging from The Great Gatsby to Iron Man 3! Everyone has to be excited for at least one of these movies.
Feb 8: Identity Thief
After a solid debut in Bridesmaids, Melissa McCarthy has been one of the hottest actresses these last few years. This movie will sure to make you laugh as McCarthy who plays Diana, and impersonates Sandy Bigelow Paterson ( Jason Bateman , Horrible Bosses). Bateman goes on a quest to hunt down his impersonator who’s spending all his money, and drag her back to Denver, which is no easy task.
Feb 14: Beautiful Creatures
A not so typical love story. Dark secrets will be revealed when Ethan meets a new girl in his small town, Lena. They both discover revealing secrets about their family and town.
March 8: Oz the Great and Powerful
This is a rendition of the Wizard of Oz that is sure to impress. Follow Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a magician from Kansas discover Oz as he meets three witches : Theodora, Evanora, and Glinda. Fun Fact according to IMDB: Blake Lively of Gossip Girl was offered the role of Glinda but filmed Savages instead. Michelle Williams plays the role of Glinda.
May 3: Iron Man 3
Everyone loves Iron Man. In the 3rd installment, Robert Downing Jr, who plays Tony Stark/ Iron Man fights to protect everyone and everything he loves as an enemy tries to tear him apart. While fighting to survive, Iron Man must figure out if “the man makes the suit or does the suit make the man.”
May 10: The Great Gatsby
This highly anticipated adaptation of the famous Fitzgerald novel about the glamorous life of the 1920s and its undertones that materialistic pleasures bring you down is finally being released in May. See Baz Luhrmann’s vision of the novel starring Leonardo Decaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire. Nick Carraway becomes intrigued by the life of the mysteriously lavish Jay Gatsby. The story follows Nick witness Jay’s downfall.
May 17: Star Trek into Darkness
The world is in a state of crisis, causing Captain Kirk to lead a manhunt to capture a “one man weapon of mass destruction.” It shall be a bloody battle to fight for Kirk’s only family: his crew.
May 24. Hangover III
Who doesn’t love the Hangover series? Well, this time, no bachelor parties are involved. This time the Wolfpack goes roadtripping! If you’re not tired of this series, or just want a good laugh, I say, Go for it!

June 21: Monsters University
Everyone’s favorite monsters are back and their going to college! See how Sully and Mike became best friends in this movie that takes place before the loveable Monster’s Inc! Perhaps Monsters U might feel like UMD! Check out the trailer here!
July 3. Despicable Me 2
Minions attack! It’s the return of Gru and the Minions! Get ready for some fun!
November 22: Catching Fire
Just in time for Thanksgiving comes the second installment of last years biggest movie the Hunger Games! Katniss ( Jennifer Lawerence) and Peeta ( Josh Hutcherson) find themselves back in the The Hunger Games, this time at the Quarter Quell. Now they must fight to survive- again, figure out who to ally with, and try to beat the Gamemakers own game!

December 13: The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug
This movie is the second part of “The Hobbit” trilogy. The movie follows Bilbo as he goes on a quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor with Wizard Gandolf and the dwarves.
