Fred Carter- Dancing In The Dark

Fred Carter is a recent graduate of Lehigh University. Fred is the CEO and founder of Carter3productions, the production company of Dancing In The Dark. 

Dancing in the Dark was first introduced to Lehigh last fall. Lehigh students could not be more excited for the return of the event this Thursday October 25th. Fred’s motives for creating the event originally were to give the students at Lehigh a fun Halloween concert where everyone could party and have a great time. After the popularity and success of last years Dancing In The Dark, Carter3productions decided to bring the event back this fall.

Over the past month Dancing in the Dark has been promoted through the event’s Facebook page. The page is daily updated with funny pictures of Lehigh students in costumes in preperation for the event. The site also has links to the Dancing In The Dark 2012 promo video along with videos of this years preformers who include Krewella, Pretty Lights, Kap Slap, Baauer, RL Grime, and 3LAU.

       The amount of time and effort of planning an event of this scale is a full time job for Fred. Fred notes that, “There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes in live entertainment that people don’t realize, a lot of stress and even more risk. You have to break into an event as well to get offers for performers and venue locations, So this year most of the planning and everything started over 6 months ago last spring.”
  
The event itself will be held from 11pm to 1am on Thursday the 25th at Bethlehem Steel Stacks, buses will be running through out the night back and forth from campus to the steel stacks to allow students to come and go as they please. Students can purchase tickets  online at http://dancinginthedark2012.eventbrite.com/ or at the venue for $30. Fred anticipates having over 900 students attend the event. 

This year Carter3productions is running two Dancing In The Dark events one at Lehigh University and one at Towson University. There is a third show that is being run by a good friends company at Penn State.

Fred notes that after last year he learned a lot and made significant changes. This year things are a lot more organized, professional, thought out, and tweaked based off of experiences and feedback. There is also a clear direction for the creation of a brand, association with Halloween and dressing up. Lehigh students are excited to dress up in their halloween costumes and have a great time at Dancing In The Dark.
