For the past 12 years, the University of Kansas men’s basketball team has had the pleasure of having one of the greatest head coaches of all time: The Bill Self. Coach Self has led the Jayhawks to ten straight Big 10 Conference championships (soon to be 11) and the 2008 NCAA national championship. He was named national coach of the year three times in 2000, 2009, and 2011. In other words, he’s incredible.
Bill Self is always right and this look explains it all. No matter what the scoreboard says or how terrible the team may be playing, never lose faith in the Jayhawks or Coach Self. With the help of Bill, the team will surprise you and not let you down (most of the time that is but nobody is perfect). Don’t ever doubt the power of Bill Self.
Self always has a secret plan up his sleeve. A great example occurred Friday, Dec. 5 at the KU vs. Florida game: the team rallied from being 18 points down to defeating Florida 71-65. Bill Self is sneaky (the wink adds the perfect emphasis) and knows the W will always go to the greatest team in college basketball—the Kansas Jayhawks.
Once again, Coach Self seems to have a brilliant strategy that is almost unfair to the other team; therefore, Self (and the rest of the Jayhawks) is relaxed and having fun on the sidelines because the poor opponents have no idea what is coming.
By enthusiastically clapping and yelling words of encouragement to his team, Bill Self helps push the Jayhawks to be the best they can be every game. He knows exactly how to pump up his players and get them to rally in desperate times. When Bill Self gets hyped, every person in AFH gets hyped.
Once again, Bill Self demonstrates encouragement in a passionate, loving way. Self would not scream so intensely if he didn’t truly care about his team. He cares so much (as seen in his screaming face) and pushes his players to be the best.
Coach Bill Self leads the Kansas Jayhawks to many victories, and with those many brilliant victories, celebration is needed. Ben McLemore and the team break out in dance after the game and their dancing would not have been possible without Bill Self’s incredible leadership.
Bill Self is WINNING. His trophies alone show how incredible a coach he truly is.
