Coffee is great and all but I’m not the biggest fan of it. My preferred winter drink is definitely a hot chocolate. But hot chocolate can be pretty boring at the big drink chains: you get hot chocolate and peppermint hot chocolate whereas coffee gets all the fun with “salted caramel” and “pumpkin spice” and all other sorts of interesting combinations. So I’ve compiled a list of amazing hot chocolate recipes with awesome flavors that are all easy to make and delicious to drink. Enjoy!

  • Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate: reminiscent of a chocolate peanut butter cup, this is a pretty easy recipe to make requiring only a stove, milk, chocolate, and peanut butter.
  • Gingerbread Hot Cocoa: especially perfect for the holiday season, this hot drink tastes just like gingerbread. With the richness of the chocolate and the festive spices, this one tastes so good.

The Hopeless Housewife
  • Nutella Hot Chocolate: the easiest recipe on the list. Who doesn’t have a jar of Nutella? Just heat up the milk, add some Nutella, and whisk the two together for a rich and creamy drink.
  • Aztec Hot Chocolate: chocolate + a little bit of heat = heaven. It’s not too hot but you can always dial down the cayenne added to it if you’re sensitive to spice. This is such a unique taste and so different from basic hot chocolate.

A Beautiful Mess
  • Bittersweet Hot Chocolate with Red Wine: in the mood for a little something ~extra~ with your hot chocolate? Grab some fruity red wine and simmer it with the milk before throwing in the chocolate. So easy and so worth.
