Lollapalooza 2013

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois State chapter.

The madness is beginning to stir up as we prepare for Chicago’s biggest music festival of summer: Lollapalooza.

The headliners were officially confirmed yesterday for the 3-day long event as the Chicago Tribune leaked that they would be Mumford and Sons, The Killers, Phoenix, Vampire Weekend, and The Postal Service.  It’s looking like its indie’s year to shine with a touch of folk.

We all know everyone’s keeping their eyes locked on the home screen of Lolla’s website in the unbearable anticipation for the $75 Souvenir passes to be released.  These special, much cheaper passes go on sale unannounced causing fans to play the waiting game as we refresh the page another 80 times.  Updates were sent out yesterday stating that they would be on sale “sometime this week.”  This is about the biggest hint we’ll get, although I have a feeling they’ll be released at an odd hour today or tomorrow the latest.  (That’s not a guarantee, just intuition speaking.)

Rumors have been flying for weeks about potential lineups, ticket sale times, etc. The most important factor to consider is to know your sources, people! The internet is full of hungry scalpers and fake ticket release times.  Do your homework, and stay in tune. For now, we can anxiously yearn for the hot weather, crowds, music, and sweat that will fill Grant Park August 2nd-4th.  More updates soon to follow.
