Let’s Talk About Olivia From “The Bachelor” For A Second

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

You know how in every good scenario the skeptic in you is waiting for “the other shoe to drop”. You begin to think no way this is possible because it is almost too perfect. Well if you are a fan of “The Bachelor” on ABC and have been keeping up with Ben Higgins season you know very well that I’m talking about Olivia.

Night one she charmed all of us with her shy, yet cute demeanor. She appeared to be a smart blonde with perfect looks and you weren’t even really sure why you wanted to be her and were ok if Ben were to marry her. In our eyes after watching Ben and Olivia interact she was a front-runner, which was also clearly reflected in the viewer polls in the after show. Ben confirmed our feelings for her as well by giving her the first impression rose. And boy does she understand the importance of first impressions because she made herself seem superior to everyone but in a positive week.

Then came week two-aka inception. She revealed a small tidbit of her crazy side having all of us wonder how we could’ve made such a bad judgment call. First it was her constantly pulling him away from the other girls then it was the behind the scenes interviews where she basically said she’s ok, and welcomes the idea, of stepping on everyone’s toes. Then during the group date Olivia had the AUDACITY to try and go for the kiss in the little science love tutorial that clearly everyone could see, lucky for us Ben is above her petty nonsense. When the compatibility results were revealed and she had the scientifically closest connection we couldn’t help but eye roll.

Now here we are in week three, slightly irritated but willing to give her a chance at redemption. Lol, nope this girl just went full blown crazy and doesn’t care if everyone knows. In her group date, like any classic Disney villain, Olivia used a girl’s injury to her advantage in order to make it to the next round. Listen I get it, you want time with Ben but at least try to earn the spot instead of praying on the weak! Once again in the group date she steals the attention and lets everyone know she got him first. As if she’s not crazy enough she acts like she’s already his wife and is just letting Ben have time with other girls until he realizes he made a mistake.

And lastly if I’ve ever wanted someone to go home so bad, besides Juan Pablo on his own season, it was Olivia during the final rose ceremony. Ben shared with us and to the girls that close family friends and influential people in his community had just died in a plane crash. And Olivia’s response?! “You know how everybody has things about their appearance they wish they could change? Mine would be anything waist down” and proceeds to literally cry about how she hates her legs and toes rather than give proper condolences and comfort to Ben in that moment.

Towards the end I was really hoping that final rose wasn’t for Olivia but in true Bachelor fashion they kept the crazy and almost made me miss Lace, at least she’s outright crazy instead of under the surface!

Stay tuned this Sunday to see if someone finally addresses Olivia, fingers crossed!
