Hot Bathing Suit Trends for Your Body

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Summer is coming up and we all have a love-hate relationship with shopping for bathing suits. There are little things nobody ever pays attention to while swimsuit shopping. Based on your skin tone and your body type, one swimsuit can look totally different than another swimsuit in a different color and style. I have your guide to buying the perfect bathing suit.

Skin Tones

If you have a pale complexion choose jewel tones. A white or neon colored swimsuit will make you look even paler in the sunlight. Jewel tones won’t drown you out like pastels will. Colors like royal blue and emerald green will make your light skin not look so washed out.

Try this emerald green bikini from Venus:

If you have an olive complexion brighter colors work well, especially blues and greens. They will highlight the natural tan you already have.

Try this indigo bikini from Pink:

If you have a darker complexion black, white, and earthy colors such as pink and orange work best. These colors will bring out the rich color in your skin, whereas pastel colors won’t accentuate your skin.

Try this neon rose bikini from Pink:

Body Types

If you’re small chested choose push-up bathing suits! A little help never hurt anybody. A swimsuit with straps will help to push you up, as opposed to a strapless.

Try this halter top from Target:

If you’re curvier choose tankinis! It saves you from feeling uncomfortable being completely exposed in a bikini, and you don’t have to wear your one piece from your high school swim team.

Try this crocheted tankini from Target:

If you want to accentuate your bottom choose cheeky bottoms! They cover more than a Brazilian bottom, and are appropriate to wear on a beach with families around.

Try this itsy bottom from Victoria’s Secret:
