Welcome back to Dorm Room DIY.

If you’re looking for a new and unique coffee cup to enjoy in the morning then this is the post for you! This week I’m going to show you how to marble a white coffee cup with just hot water and nail polish. This DIY should only take you about 10 minutes depending on how marble you want it. Marbling is great because no two designs will ever be alike!

What you need:

Hot water

Plastic bowl

Nail polish

Q-Tips or toothpicks

Paper towels

Paper Plates

To start this project, you just need to add your hot water in the bowl that you would like to use. Make sure you’re using a bowl that you don’t mind getting stained.

Grab your white mugs. I got mine at Target for $1.99 each. Make sure they are clean and completely dry. Any water that is already on the mugs won’t allow the nail polish to stick to the glass.

This part is the quickest and you need to move fast!

Take your nail polish and set them up. I would suggest only using one color at first until you can start to move quicker.

Carefully drop the nail polish into the hot water and when you’ve put enough to almost fill the bowl your good.

If you want a design, you can use the Q-tips to mix up the contents.

Slowly dip the mug into the nail polish and water and hold it there for 2 to 3 seconds to make sure that it sticks. If you are stable enough, you can use a Q-tip or toothpick to take the remaining contents that are around the mug off. Also, be careful not to let any of the water flow into the mug. This was the hardest for me. The nail polish will also get in the mug.

Set on a paper plate to dry and use the paper towels to clean up any areas you might not want marbled. Just make sure to move fast. You’re finished!

A cute and quick way to also add a little more design to your mug is by using some stickers. If you have a saying or any other shape that you would like to put on your mug, add the stickers before you dip it and then take them off right after you’ve marbled!
