Best and Worst Hofstra Winter Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Here are some of the best and worst winter trends that people have been wearing at Hofstra. This winter has been pretty dreadful and these are the clothing pieces that people have found essential to their winter wardrobe.

Best Trends

1. Army Jackets

Army winter coats are very ‘in’ for winter. I have seen many girls wearing these types of jackets/coats around campus. Army jackets can be paired with jeans or black leggings and boots like Doc Martins or combat boots to add to the army look.

2. Knit Sweaters

It is crucial for winter to have a generous amount of sweaters in your closet. For a laid back look, you can wear a knit sweater with leggings and leather boots. I’ve seen a lot of girls rocking this look at Hofstra this winter.

3. Oversized Scarves

These big oversized scarves will keep you warm on any cold day.

Worst Trends

These are the worst trends that I’ve seen on campus this season.

1. Animal Printed Leggings

Some people decided to be more daring this winter by wearing bold printed leggings with patterns such as cheetah print or floral print. I think that for winter it is better to stick to solid colored leggings. Solid colored leggings are an essential for winter because they keep you warm, can go with almost any outfit, and are way more comfortable than jeans.

2. Shorts

When it is below twenty degrees outside there shouldn’t be anyone wearing shorts. Save your shorts for the summer! This has definitely been the oddest trend I’ve seen here at Hofstra. Some people have tried wearing high knee socks with shorts but you will most likely still be freezing. If you still wish to wear shorts in the winter, I recommend wearing sheer tights underneath and pairing it with a sweater and some cute boots.
