Women’s Lacrosse Gives Back

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Haverford chapter.

Have you spotted eye-popping, brightly-colored, woven bracelets on the wrists of your fellow Fords lately? You have the women’s lacrosse team to thank for that. As their community service project, which is required of every varsity team, the women are selling unique bracelets that are made through the Pulsera Project.  This project was started in 2009 when the founders traveled to Nicaragua and came upon a shelter that housed ex-street kids.  These kids were experts at weaving pulseras (bracelets) but needed people to sell them to.  So, the founders returned home to America and with the help of U.S. schools, have found a market for the pulseras.  The bracelets are sent to the schools by the Nicaraguan children and are sold for five dollars each.

The women’s lacrosse team has ordered in these bracelets and are now selling them around campus! Each bracelet takes around two hours for the children to make and comes with an attached picture and name of the child who made it. Every pulsera is unique, so you’ll surely want to get your hands (or wrists) on one.

They will be sold in the dining center as well as by team members.  You can check out the Pulsera Project at this link.
