Campus Celebrity: Kelli Beard

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

Kelli is a triple threat: smart, athletic and artistic! Kelli is co-captain of the GMU’s Women’s Lacrosse team, is a full time student double majoring in Graphic Design and Event Management, and also works as an Adobe products instructor in the JC. So I guess we’re all wondering—is there anything she can’t do? I got to catch up with this week’s campus celebrity and get her thoughts on the upcoming lacrosse season, life at Mason and a quick Q&A on all things Kelli Beard!

What are you excited about for the lacrosse season?

To win obviously! I’m excited to have a new coach who has brought back the competitive nature to the game. I think this year is really promising for Mason lacrosse and we are ready to come out energized passionate and intense.

What are you doing to get ready for the upcoming games?

Practice, watch film and lift. In order for us to be successful we need to be doing more than what is asked and going beyond what is expected for us. This year it’s about who wants it.

Do you find it hard juggling school and sports?

I definitely think that there are times when it’s difficult but I like a busy lifestyle. Therefore juggling multiple things makes it easier for me because I like feeling productive.  As long as you have time management down, then you can do anything!

What do you do when you’re not playing lacrosse?

I’m an instructor at The Club in the Johnson Center. I train, certify, and instruct students, faculty and staff on Adobe products such as InDesign.

Favorite thing about Mason:

Definitely the location. Fairfax is right near DC and we can get to anywhere we want within 10 to 30 minutes. There’s always something to do whether it’s going to DC for the weekend or up to Fairfax corner for the night! The location offers so many opportunities to be out and about.

Be sure to support your fellow Patriots this Spring! Women’s lacrosse first home game is February 25 at 5 pm against Mt. St. Marys.

Currently a Junior at GMU majoring in Graphic Design with an Sport Communication Minor.
