Campus Celebrity: Christina Clarke

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

CAMPUS CELEBRITY

Christina Clarke

This week I had the pleasure of interviewing one of our own mason patriots Christina Clarke. Regardless of her busy schedule, Christina manages to keep her self-involved on and off campus. As Christina is making her way to her goal of becoming a nurse practitioner, she spends most of her time volunteering, studying, and bonding with her family in school and at home. I asked Christina a few questions to help you guys get to know her a bit better.

Lets start with the basics:

Name: Christina Clarke

Age: 20 years old

School year: Junior

Major: Nursing

Now onto the more descriptive questions:

What organizations are you a part of at Mason?

“I am a sister of Zeta Tau Alpha (the Theta Chi Chapter) and have been since Freshman year and I absolutely love being a part of such an amazing sisterhood that has provided me with so many opportunities and great sisters and best friends. I am also the GMU Love Your Melon Campus Crew Captain (an organization run by college students that helps bring joy to kids with cancer by having college kids dress as superheroes and bring them LYM hats at the hospital. With every hat purchased, another goes to a child with cancer)”

Not only does Christina involve herself in Greek life at Mason but she also involves herself in charities representing Mason. Take a look at George Mason’s Love Your Melon chapter on social media. It’s a great cause that helps kids who are struggling with cancer. To help out purchase your beanie at Loveyourmelon.com and don’t forget to pick George Mason’s chapter at the end of your checkout.

What organizations are you a part of outside of Mason?

“I have been volunteering for the Cody’s Crew Foundation for the past 7 years. This is a foundation that raises money to help find a cure for Neuroblastoma, which is a childhood cancer. I know the family that started this foundation and their son that they lost to Neuroblastoma at the age of 4. I feel the need to help find a cure for cancer because children do not deserve to go through such terrible disease. These children deserve a better life and I want to help raise money to find a cure so that they can have a normal childhood. I raise money by running half marathons all year round, so far I have ran 10, and I have people donate to the foundation before each race. So far the Cody’s Crew Foundation has raised over $200,000 for research! I am also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars since sophomore year.”

I guess you could say this is future nurse Christina trying to make a difference in the medical world. After hearing about all her volunteer work I was curious to see how she was going to apply this to her future, which brings us to our next question.

What’s your goal for the future?

“I hope to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse and then after working for a few years I hope to go back to school to get my Master’s and become a Nurse Practitioner. I also want to keep volunteering for the Cody’s Crew Foundation and helping with other childhood cancer organizations until a cure is found for this terrible disease.”

So after talking about all her cool accomplishments, and plans for the future I wanted to know why Christina chose mason.

Why did you choose Mason?

“I choose Mason because I like being close to home and being able to commute to and from school. I love being able to come home to my family after a long day and how I have the opportunity to watch my 14 year old sister grow up and be a bigger part of her life. I also choose Mason because they have an amazing Nursing Program and there are great nursing job opportunities in this area.”

Christina is a proud Mason patriot, and sister of Zeta Tau Alpha. With her hard work ethic and motivation, Christina is determined to make a difference in our medical world to find a cure for cancer.

Hope you collegiettes enjoyed getting to know Christina as much as I did this week. Check out one of the many organizations she is apart of to help make a difference!
