10 Simply Sweet Valentine’s Day Treats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at George Mason University chapter.

Calories don’t count on Valentine’s Day, right? Sometimes we all just need to give in to our sweet tooth, and let’s be real—we deserve it! If you’re looking for something simple and delicious to give your sweetheart, or even your best friends, on this special day, then keep on reading.

1.     Brownie pops. Anything in “pop” form (i.e. cake pop) is always delicious and a fan favorite. You really can’t go wrong with this treat. Add some pretty red and pink sprinkles for even more fun. http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/brownie-pops-50400000126029/

2.     Hidden Heart Cupcakes. These tasty cupcakes are an exciting way to tell someone you love them with a secret heart hidden inside. Best part? They’re gluten free! http://www.foodista.com/blog/2011/09/12/diy-bake-a-heart-into-a-cupcake#

3.     V-Day Buttons. These are one of the easiest treats to make! You just need three simple ingredients for the perfect sweet and salty snack. I made them for a holiday party in December, and they were a huge hit! http://tastykitchen.com/recipes/holidays/valentinee28099s-day-buttons/

4.     Conversation Heart Cookies. These are a fabulous option because you can make them personally for anyone, whether it’s your boyfriend, friends, or family. http://www.annies-eats.com/2010/02/12/conversation-heart-cookies/

5.     Beautiful Bark. If you want to make something unique, yet still simple, this recipe has your name all over it. For a chocolate lover, use regular chocolate M&Ms on top. Cherry flavored ones make a yummy alternative for non-chocolate lovers.  http://www.parentmap.com/article/20-valentines-day-treats-for-kids-and-families?page=14

6.     Red Velvet Whoopie Pies. Red Velvet is amazing any time of the year, but especially for Valentine’s Day. Put a tasty spin on the classic favorite dessert. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Dawns-Easy-Red-Velvet-Sandwich-Cookies/Detail.aspx?evt19=1

7.     Strawberry Yogurt Mousse. If you don’t want to completely ruin your diet, this mousse is a fabulous option. It is super quick and only requires four basic ingredients. http://www.ivillage.com/strawberry-yogurt-mousse/3-r-64482

8.     Chocolate Cherry Fudge. Although fudge sounds complicated to make, this recipe is super easy. It’s also a great option to make in bulk if you’re feeling generous! http://www.ivillage.com/choc-cherry-fudge/3-r-491369

9.     Valentine Rice Krispie Treats. If baking is not your forte, try this foolproof recipe. Who doesn’t enjoy rice krispie treats? http://www.fortheloveofcooking.net/2013/02/♥-valentines-day-rice-krisp…

10. Heart Shaped Donuts. Are you trying to surprise your sweetheart with breakfast in bed?
