This throwback Thursday we take time to reflect on the years we try to forget: middle school. While those years are filled with our most embarrassing moments, we can’t forget that some of our favorite songs came from them. So this throwback Thursday let’s commemorate the time we stood on our coffee tables and danced with our friends completely sober.

1. Ignition (Remix) – R. Kelly

Scene: It’s Friday on the bus ride home, you pull out your iTouch and turn the volume up all the way. There’s a dance tonight and your crush is going; you’re pretty pumped.

2. Gold Digger – Kanye West ft. Jamie Foxx

This was the first rap song you knew all the words to and can recite verbatim to this day.

3. Glamorous– Fergie ft. Ludacris

“Fergie is so cool, she’s so down to earth. I mean she still goes to Taco Bell. I wouldn’t go to Taco Bell if I was rich like her- did you hear they don’t even use real meat?!”

4. Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stefani

Friend drama? These were the lyrics you made your status on Facebook mid-fight. Yeah, you showed her.

5. Low – Flo Rida ft. T Pain

This was the song you sprinted to the dance floor for at ever middle school dance. And if you didn’t get low, you weren’t cool.

6. Crank That– Soulja Boy

Hours were spent watching Youtube tutorials on how to do this dance. Yet, when it actually came time to do it at the middle school dance, the only part you could get together was “And superman that ooohhhh”

7. Wasn’t Me– Shaggy

In 7th grade you knew all the words to this song and your parents were horrified as you sang along to the radio. If it wasn’t Shaggy, then who was it?

8. Hey Ya! – OutKast

“What’s cooler than being cool!? ICE COLD!” Yeah, you shook it like a Polaroid picture.

9. Wannabe – Spice Girls

Even though this song came out around the time we were born, you weren’t the “it” friend group until you made up a dance to this song. “I call being Sporty Spice!!”

10. Party in the USA – Miley Cyrus

Basically the ultimate dance song. Hannah Montana no more, we all had our eyes glued to the TV when she “pole danced” at the VMAs. Foreshadowing? I think so.

11. Hips Don’t Lie –Shakira

You can’t even lie- you definitely tried to dance like Shakira. Plus it was so cool that you were singing in Spanish.

12. Picture to Burn – Taylor Swift

Remember when T Swizzle like totally got your life? I know I do. And when Wii Sing It was played at every sleepover? Yeah, I remember that too. After belting out this song you might as well been the next American Idol.
