Atlanta weather can be extremely fickle. One day, its 68 degrees and sunny and I can get away with a light sweater but the next, I can’t survive without multiple layers, including a heavy coat. It might be the California girl in me that makes me unable to survive the cold without something resembling a heavy parka. Regardless, I’ve been searching for the perfect coat to elevate my everyday wardrobe. Here are three options that I’m currently craving that I could easily see myself wearing both to class or a dinner with girlfriends in Midtown.

Zara “Structured Collarless Coat” ($199)

I have a serious love affair with collarless coats and jackets and this Zara option is no exception. It’s the perfect shade of grey, making it the ideal complement to pretty much any outfit but its unexpected fuzzy wool makes it anything from basic. I’d pair it with ripped skinny jeans, a white tee and black flat booties for class and then swap the tee for a silky printed camisole and chunky heeled booties for dinner.

Madewell “Quilted Down Coat” ($298)

This Madewell coat is anything but your basic North Face puffer jacket. The contrasting textures of the sleeves and interesting details around the collar keep it from feeling boring but its warm enough that I would want to wear it in the middle of the winter. I like that the cut keeps it from feeling too casual despite the material and it seems like the perfect balance between a nice and casual coat.

Forever21 “Collarless Boucle Coat” ($44.90)

This coat, like the aforementioned Zara one, features a clean collarless cut. But unlike the Zara one, its practically a steal and looks much more expensive than it really is. The boucle material adds visual interest and the light color options (it comes in pastel pink or cream) make it a bit unexpected. A word of wisdom though, it runs extremely big so order a size down to get the perfect, loose fit.
