The midterms and papers are stacking up, but the thought of spring break just two weeks away is motivating us all to get the work done. Whether you’re going home to your family or traveling somewhere warm with friends, there are a couple of ways to ensure you have the most amazing spring break yet. So put those flashcards and textbooks away for just a moment and check out these tips!

1. Relax: I think this one goes without saying, but it’s important everyone is reminded that spring break is a break. Take some time off from those internship applications or homework assignments to catch up on sleep or Netflix.

2. Be Productive: There’s a distinction between relaxing and being straight up lazy. Don’t let the entire break fly by without getting anything done. Start a project and get motivated! Work out a couple times with your friends or read that book you’ve been trying to make time for all semester.

3. Spend Time With Your Friends: Ask anyone; I’ll bet some of their best memories with friends are from their spring break. Explore a new city and meet new people together. Try new things! And if you’re stuck at home, reach out to your high school friends that you haven’t talked to in months. Make the most out of it!

4. Be Safe: This tip is aimed at the groups of friends traveling together, but it’s something we should all be aware of. Be safe. Don’t be stupid. Just because you’re in a new place doesn’t mean you can completely let loose. Be smart and try not to do anything your mom wouldn’t approve of.

5. Practice Safe Drinking: If you’re 21 and plan on drinking during spring break, be careful about it. Never leave your drink unattended. If you lose your drink, just order a new one. And don’t accept drinks from the creepy regulars at the bars (we all know at least one of these guys).

6. Pack Lightly: Spring break is only a week, so there’s no reason to pack your entire closet with you. Just bring the essentials!

7. Keep Track of Your Things: Especially if you aren’t going home, make sure you keep track of everything you brought with you. Nobody likes jumping in panic on the airplane because they realized they forgot their wallet in the hotel room. Keep everything in one place!

8. Have Fun: Make the most out of your trip. Don’t be a downer if you’re going home, and don’t be a control freak if you’re vacationing. Enjoy the down time and make this spring break your best one yet!
