Best Halloween Disney Channel Original Movies Ranked

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Emerson chapter.

Halloween is just around the corner and there are so many movies to watch! Ditch the horror movies this year and throw it back to your childhood. Disney Channel Original Movies were the best and there’s no denying that the Halloween movies were your favorite—besides High School Musical and The Cheetah Girls, of course! Check out our ranking of the Halloween DCOMs.

6. Phantom of the Megaplex

Disney’s take on the popular Phantom of the Opera had siblings on the hunt to figure out who is haunting their movie theater. It technically isn’t a Halloween movie, but it is shown on Disney Channel in October.

5. Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire

This DCOM has another group of siblings trying to prove that their mom’s new boyfriend is in fact a vampire! There are plenty of antics throughout this classic, but it has also been a part of some controversy in the past—there were plenty of complaints about the scene where Dimitri is licking his lips at the dog, so Disney took it out of any future airings.

4. Don’t Look Under the Bed

In Disney’s final “horror” film, Frances McCausland’s imaginary friend ends up being the boogeyman and causes strange things to happen in her town. Author’s Note: My mom didn’t let me watch this for the longest time and when I finally did, I understood why. This movie was actually pretty scary!

3. The Scream Team

In this underrated DCOM, a family moves into the town where their grandfather just died. The two siblings end up researching the town’s history after thinking their grandfather’s spirit was trying to tell them something. The kids team up with the Soul Patrol (a hilarious group of ghosts) to take on Zachariah Kull, a ghost who is haunting the town.

2. Under Wraps

This classic Disney Original is one of the channel’s best Halloween movies. Three friends discover Harold, a mummy who needs get back to his sarcophagus before midnight on Halloween. The film wasn’t available on DVD until 2012. Where can we buy it?

1. Halloweentown (and the rest of the series)

Who doesn’t like this movie? Marnie Cromwell loves Halloween. When her grandma Aggie shows up, she and her siblings follow her back to Halloweentown. The film was so popular that it earned three sequels. We’re still a little bitter that the original Marnie was replaced in Return to Halloweentown.
