Super Big Mistake at Super Bowl 2011

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Columbia Chicago chapter.

I’ve been seeing so many things all over the news, websites and radio stations about how Christina Aguilera messed up some of the words to the national anthem at the 2011 Super Bowl on Sunday. Who cares? So she messed up a line or two? People need to get over this small mishap and realize it wasn’t that big of a deal. There are plenty of other more important things going on in the world than this.

Christina is one of the most iconic singers of our generation, and she should be honored for even singing in the first place. Everybody makes mistakes, and I think people sometimes forget celebrities do, too. They are people just like everyone else.

I was listening to a radio station earlier this morning when I was getting ready for work, and the two  disc jockeys were even making fun of her. They kept going on about how they were looking for some other celebrity to sing it live on their station and not mess up any of the words. As funny as it kind of was, I would think it would be a little offensive to Christina.

The radio station ended up with singer Baby Bash singing it for the two deejays, but he wasn’t even going full out on the song. It was rushed, halfway spoken and just pain terribly. Christina might have messed up a word or two here and there, but at least she has her amazing vocals to back it up with!
