With Thanksgiving break right around the corner, what better way to unwind than to watch Netflix? If you’re like me then you have probably already gone through most of the shows and movies Netflix has to offer. Even with their ridiculously accurate “recommended for you” section, they don’t always show you all the options. Here’s a list of our favorite hidden gems on Netflix:

  1. The Crown (Series): A Netflix original, this movie tells the chronicles of Queen Elizabeth II’s life from the 1940s to modern times.
  2. Black Mirror (Series): A lot of people are calling this a modern day “Twilight Zone,” with every episode having a different cast and a unique plot.
  3. Grace and Frankie (Series): Two women find themselves divorced and alone after their husbands reveal a long-kept secret affair to them. If you need a laugh, Grace and Frankie never fails to entertain!
  4. Bates Motel (Series): After the death of her husband, a mother moves herself and her son to a different town for a fresh start. Mysterious things start happening in their new life, making this psychological horror show a must watch.
  5. The Fundamentals of Caring (Movie): A young boy with muscular dystrophy wants nothing more than to see the world’s deepest pit. He and his new caretaker embark on a cross-country journey, and pick up a hitchhiker, played by Selena Gomez, along the way. Watch the trailer here!
  6. Narcos (Series): This show tells the story of Pablo Escobar, Colombia’s most infamous drug lord. This is the perfect mix of drama and action.
  7. Stranger Things (Series): Delve into the mysterious world of the “upside-down” as a group of young boys search for their friend Will who has gone missing in a small Indiana town. The terrifying forces these boys and Will’s mother (played by Winona Ryder) encounter during their search will leave you shaking.
  8. Amélie (Movie): This whimsical movie portrays the life of Amélie, played by the famous Audrey Tatou, who enjoys plotting and scheming in a “Disneyfied” version of one of Paris’ most exciting neighborhoods.
