Year: Sophomore

Hometown and Your Favorite Thing About It: Pittsburgh/Sewickley. My favorite part about living in Pittsburgh is the amount there is to do here. It’s a great place to grow up, and be an adult.  

Area of Study and How You Chose It: My area of study at Chatham is English. I also am working on my secondary certificate so I can be a teacher. I chose my area of study because I love working with others and I also love to learn.

Activities/Jobs: I’ve had two jobs in my 20 years. My first job was at Dollar Tree, and my second was at Home Depot. As for activities, I played soccer for 15 years, but as of now I’m a full-time student.

Favorite Books: My favorite books/stories/plays include: Beowulf, Much Ado About Nothing, Pride and Prejudice, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Medea.

Favorite Movies: The Notebook, Tangled, Pretty Woman, Sixteen Candles, Anchorman, Finding Nemo, Shrek, The Wedding Date, and What’s Your Number?.

Favorite TV Shows: The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Raising Hope, and Snooki and JWOWW.

Favorite Musicians/Bands: Motion City Soundtrack, Skrillex, KE$HA, Mumford and Sons, The Beatles, Michelle Branch, Trading Yesterday, and Say Anything

Favorite Food: Cheesecake, mac ‘n cheese, soft pretzels, spaghetti, garlic steak, and the Super Burger.

I hate winter, so I like when I can stay inside.

What do you love most about being a Chatham woman?

The professors here are vey helpful and are there for you when you need them.

 

 

  Mara Flanagan is entering her seventh semester as a Chapter Advisor. After founding the Chatham University Her Campus chapter in November 2011, she served as Campus Correspondent until graduation in 2015. Mara works as a freelance social media consultant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She interned in incident command software publicity at ADASHI Systems, gamification at Evive Station, iQ Kids Radio in WQED’s Education Department, PR at Markowitz Communications, writing at WQED-FM, and marketing and product development at Bossa Nova Robotics. She loves jazz, filmmaking and circus arts.
