Recently, our Career Development Center has promoted the Bucknell Alumni App (replacing B-Link). It makes networking with alumni incredibly efficient. Users (students like you) can easily develop professional relationships with Bucknell alumni. This location-based mobile directory allows students to customize their search by company, industry, location, class year, major, industry, and even by varsity sport and Greek affiliation!
If you’re reading this, you’re probably already aware that Bucknell is a fantastic school. Bucknell is an excellent institution that allows students to develop and grow to achieve great successes. Philip Roth (Class of 1954) Author
Roth is a world-renowned novelist who has received some of the highest accolades for his fiction works. Some of his works include: Operation Shylock, Everyman, The Human Stain, American Pastoral. He is a recipient of the National Book Award, Pulitzer Prize, Franz Kafka prize, and many more.
Leslie Moonves (1971) Business Executive
Moonves graduated from Bucknell to later become President and CEO of CBS television. He changed his major from pre-med to Spanish and acted in a few play. He first pursued a career in acting, but then decided to pursue the business side of television. Good move, Moonves.
Rob Andrews (1979) Politician
Andrews is a longtime former democratic U.S. Representative for New Jersey (New Jersey’s 1st congressional disctrict). He served from 1990 to 2014. He graduated from Bucknell with a degree in politicial science, and furthered his education at Cornell University.
Jessica Jackley (2000) Entreprenuer
Jackley is an entrepreneur who was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Bucknell with a degree in philosophy and political science, and furthered her education at Stanford Graduate School.. She is the cofounder and Chief Marketing Officer for the popular non-profit organization, Kiva.
Alan Stillman (1957) Entreprenuer
Stillman founded the restaurant chain T.G.I.Friday’s. He claims that the inspiration behind the name stems from a phrase he heard mentioned continuously by his fellow Bucknellians “Thank God it’s Friday!”. Trisha Torrey (1973) Author, Advocate
Torrey graduated from Bucknell with a degree in Education and furthered her education at Elmira College. She was misdiagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and now she has become a spokewoman from patient advocacy. Torrey has written 3 books about patient empowerment and advocacy, has made several media appearances, and has been cited as a CNN hero on the program CNN Heroes.
Other famous Bucknellians include: Kenneth Freeman, former CEO of Quest Diagnostics and current Dean of the Boston University School of Management. Kunitake Andō, President and Group COO of Sony Corporation, Kenneth Langone, cofounder of Home Depot and former director of the New York Stock Exchange, and Chris Bender, coproducer of movies like the American Pie series, The Hangover, and more.
