5 Walmart Essentials That Will Have You Ready For Any Theme Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

While our favorite fraternity parties are always a good time, getting dressed up and putting together a costume is sometimes the best part. When we shake and shimmy on that riser, we know we got up there dressed to impress. But when we receive that social text about the party being some theme that requires boys to wear some sort of jersey and girls to make some profession look sexy… our wardrobe suddenly seems far more limited than before. What do we do? Walmart.

Here are five Walmart essentials that will have you ready for any party theme!

Button-Down Shirt

You’ll be surprised how much this one will come in handy. Channel your inner Tom Cruise and pair this theme essential with a pair of tube socks for a risky business theme. Or, unbutton the top few buttons and tie the bottom in a knot and BOOM, sexy smarty-pants or a hot business executive.

Spandex

Bloated but still trying to look hot, meet Spandex. Spandex, meet bloated but still trying to look hot. After inhaling the Flying Bison the night before, sometimes squeezing into denim shorts is too much of an effort. Your spandex will never let you down when it comes to comfort, and they especially will never fail to make your booty POP! Another plus of these bad boys is you can slip them underneath a short dress or skirt to prevent giving the surrounding boys a free show while you’re breaking it down on the dance floor.

Fracket

The chilly weather is about to sneak up on us and when it does, this one will be a MUST. Hunting through the mountain of jackets stuffed in the kitchen cabinets for your jacket is nearly impossible. You’ll see another girl walking out of the party house wearing it, and you’ll go back on the search to find the next best option. Walmart has a quality selection of warm, inexpensive jackets, so snag one there to contribute to the classic Fracket trade. Warning: DO NOT get too attached to your Fracket- as it might not be yours tomorrow…

Cheap Sneaks

Unless you’re into your converse getting tie-dyed with mud and beer, you are going to need to add a good pair of frat shoes to your collection. Check out Walmart’s shoe department to gain the cheapest knock-offs of your favorite sneaks to still be in style, but not stressed over ruining anything pricey.

Ears / anything Red, White, and Blue

QUICK you just decided to go out and didn’t have a chance to plan out an ornate outfit. Slip on a pair of ears and you just made your favorite outfit costume-ready in seconds. Are ears far too off from the theme? Rep some red, white, and blue because any theme goes along when you’re standing for the best country in the world.

Remember- college parties are where clothes get spilled on, caked with mud, tugged, and stained. Sweaty basements and downtown houses are danger zones for expensive and delicate clothing. Follow this Walmart guide and start a costume drawer because with our favorite Lewisburg store’s help, you’ll always wake up remembering you were the best dressed at the party!

What's up Collegiettes! I am so excited to be one half of the Campus Correspondent team for Bucknell's chapter of Her Campus along with the lovely Julia Shapiro.  I am currently a senior at Bucknell studying Creative Writing and Sociology.
