Delicious Dorm Recipes!

It’s 3 a.m., your paper is due in six hours and you’re nowhere near done.  First, take a deep breath. You have some time and it will get done before you know it.  You just need a bit of energy to pull you through the rest of the night.  Sadly, Night Owl is already closed and you don’t have time for a Wal-Mart stop. 

Good news, you can put together a few good meals right here in your dorm room!  These recipes are perfect to make in your microwave and will satisfy your craving so you can get back to work ASAP!

 
If you are craving some thing like a cheesy pasta, you can make fettuccini alfredo. You will need:

-2 ounces of cream cheese
-1/4 cup of finely grated parmesan cheese
-1/4 cup of milk
-1 cup of pasta
-1 ½ cups of water

Directions:

1.  Put the noodles and water into a large bowl (make sure it’s microwave safe)
2.  Microwave on high for two minutes, then stir, and continue this two-minute cycle until the pasta is done
3.  Drain the noodles
4.  Add the cream cheese and milk and microwave for one minute
5.  Stir until smooth, add the parmesan cheese, and continue to stir until smooth
6.  Pour the Alfredo Sauce into a shallow bowl, add the noodles and toss
7.  Add pepper to taste

If you are craving breakfast since the sun is already coming up, you can make pancakes!

You will need:

-2 eggs
– ½ cup of milk
– ½ cup of flour
-1 tbsp of butter
 
Directions:
 
1.      Mix the flour, eggs, butter and milk
2.      Pour the batter onto a plate
3.      Place the plate in the microwave for 1 minute
4.      Add syrup and whipped cream if desired

If you have a sweet tooth, you can make fudge.
You will need:
– 3 cups of chocolate chips
– ¼ cup of butter
– 1 can of condensed mile (14 ounces)
 
Directions:
 
1.      Put chips, milk and butter into a bowl in the microwave
2.      Microwave for 3-4 minutes (or until completely melted)
3.      Take it out and quickly mix and pour into an 8×8 dish
4.      Cover and let it refrigerate for half an hour (so it can cut easier)

If you want something fun and you can make cereal treats.

You will need:
–       ½ cup of butter
–       5 cups of mini marshmallows
–       5 cups of your favorite cereal (tip: fruity pebbles or cocoa crisipies)
 
Directions:
 

  1. Melt the butter for 1-2 minutes (or until completely melted)
  2. Add the marshmallows and put back in the microwave for 1-4 minutes (stirring every 50 seconds until it is completely melted)
  3. Pour in the cereal and mix very well
  4. Pour the snack into a dish and let it cool until you can cut it.
