10 of the Coolest Halloween Makeup Looks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bentley chapter.

Halloween is just around the corner, and one of the season’s best perks is the chance to try out bold makeup looks. Here are 10 ideas to get you started!

1. Scarecrow

All you need for this look is some eyeliner, bronzer, blush, and a bright lip color. First, over dramatize your cheeks to make them look rosy with the bronzer and blush. Next, draw some stitches on your nose and corners of your mouth. Then, add some spikey bottom lashes. Finally, swipe on some pink or red lipstick, add a flannel and wide brim hat, and let the Halloween festivities begin!

2. Deer

This look is all about contour and highlight. Start off by bronzing your forehead and cheeks, and make sure to contour your nose. Next, using a white eyeshadow, highlight your nose, brow bones, and lower lash lines. You can use a white eyeliner to fill in your waterline for an even more doe-eyed look. Do the rest of your eye makeup as usual. Then, using a black eyeliner pencil, draw on a cute deer nose. Use the same eyeliner pencil or a black lipstick fill in your top lip. Finally, for the finishing touch, use white eyeliner to draw some small spots here and there on your forehead and cheeks. Ta-da! You have a cute and feminine Halloween makeup look!

3. Wednesday Addams

Wednesday Addams might just be the queen of all things Halloween. Her classic look is very simple to emulate. Start by applying winged eyeliner. Next, using a black eyeliner pencil or a black lipstick, fill in your lips. If you want Wednesday’s signature look, consider adding a black “v” using your eyeliner to your hairline. Lastly, braid your hair into 2 pigtails and toss on a white button-up under a black dress. Simple and chic.

4. Black Cat

All you need for this look is a black eyeliner pencil. Wing out your liner on both the inner and outer corners of your eyes. Next, draw on a nose and some whiskers. Finally, line your top lip. Add some black ears and a trendy choker, and you’re good to go!

5. Unicorn

This look has been trending everywhere this season. Give your best unicorn look a shot by contouring with hot pink blush and matching pink lipstick. Add a healthy dose of glitter and rhinestones to your forehead, temples, and shoulders, and you’re on your way to being the prettiest mythical creature of them all.

6. Skull

This half skull look is perfect for anyone who wants to be a little bit spooky without compromising their eye makeup. Start by doing your eyes however you chose, whether with smoky eyeshadow or winged liner. For the skull portion, use black eyeliner, black eyeshadow, and white eyeshadow to create the illusion of teeth, a hollow nose, and shadows. This look is the perfect combination of scary and pretty and can be worn with nearly any outfit.

7.  Butterfly

Start by picking up some faux butterflies from the craft store. Cut one in half, and apply one half to the corner of each eye using false eyelash glue. Next, use a matching eyeshadow to dust your upper eyelids. Line your eyes as you normally would. Finally, swipe on some colorful lipstick and stick on a few gems and you have an ethereal Halloween look.

8. Spider Web Eyes

Using black and gray eyeshadow, create a smoky eye. Next, using a black eyeliner pencil, begin drawing spider webs above your eyebrows and below your lower lash line. Feel free to add some personality to the look with either a bold lipstick or a simple gloss. Add some spikey false lashes for a glamourous spidery look.

9.  Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn is one of this year’s most popular Halloween costumes. To get the look, start with blue and magenta eyeshadow. Apply one color to your left eye and the other color to your right eye. Next, using a red lipstick, fill in your lips. Lastly, use a black eyeliner to draw Harley’s signature black heart on your cheek. Don’t be afraid to get a little messy with this look!

10. Mermaid

This beautiful look can be achieved with some pastel eyeshadow and a pair of fishnet tights. Use the fishnet tights as a stencil for scales. Simply brush a bright shadow over the tights and remove. For the eyes, apply bold shadow in colors like purple, pink, and teal. A white liquid liner can be used to get wings like the ones shown above. Apply glitter to your forehead, eyes, and lips for an enchanting look.
