I have liked skulls for a while. Not in a creepy, serial killer, or necrophiliac way; but in a cool, that-is-so-awesome way. With interests in history, archaeology, and forensic anthropology, I have found ways to incorporate my eccentric love into my outfits. While some have found it odd and others have found it cool, I love finding different pieces with skulls and incorporating them into my wardrobe. (I got skull high tops that I designed for Christmas!)
This is why when I found out that skulls were in fashion for 2013, my ego got a little boost. Not only could I find skull pieces more easily, but I also was ahead of the fashion curve. Yay!
Skulls are not just for Halloween and science labs anymore. Also, pirates or Goths don’t have a monopoly over them either.
However, a lot of people are either scared or unsure of how to include skulls into their wardrobe. Never fear! It’s not that hard; and the cool thing is, that you can dress preppy, punk, or sporty and still wear skulls. The trick is to balance your outfit and to have fun. Don’t be scared of the skulls!
Here are some ways that you can incorporate them into your outfit:

Skull Ring
If you do not want to be too edgy, a ring can be cute way to incorporate skulls into your outfit. It is an easy way to look cute, especially with the floral peplum and lacy shoes. It’s feminine and delicate, but still incorporates a small skull.

Skull Shoe
Another way to incorporate skulls into your outfit is to have skulls on your shoes. The black chandeliers and the shoes add a bit of gothic whimsy, while the bright pink of the dress adds a pop of color.

Skull Shirt
While the shirt does contain a larger skull, it is a Día de los Muertos sugar skull. Paired with the pink pants and the high tops, it is a cool and casual way to wear a skull, while not seeming so dead.

Skull Purse
This purse also contains a skull from Día de los Muertos, but this one contains lighter and ethereal colors. The outfit itself is nice and light remaining fairly neutral in color. The purse compliments the outfit allowing a twist and creates a conversation starter.

Skull Earrings and Tights
Although this does include more skulls, the earrings and the tights balance themselves out. The skull-and-cross bone earrings add some sparkle to the outfit, while the tights add a hint of surprise. Most people don’t expect tights to be that awesome, but you did by choosing to wearing them, which makes you awesome.

Skull Sweater
The skull sweater is not your usual white skull on black. Instead, it is a sea foam green color. With heart eyes, the sweater is both adorable and a little less on the hard side. Who said skulls can’t be cute? (Or in love, if that is what you interpret the eyes to mean…)

Skull Dress
Goth, yet fun. This dress is an unusual way to wear a skull with no actual outline, just cuts into the back of the dress. Plain in the front, the lacy tights and floral earrings carry on the Goth theme. The shoes add a pop of color to the otherwise black outfit. And just imagine everyone’s surprise when you take off your jacket and reveal the skull on the back of the dress.
