Fall Party Outfits

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

With the cold weather making its way back, your closets are probably full of chunky sweaters, leggings, jeans and boots.   So then how are you supposed to have room to tuck away your cute weekend going out outfits?  Here are a few tips on how to come up with party outfits without having to sacrifice a lot of closet space.

  1. Buy lots of dark jeans and leggings.  Jeans and leggings are essential for the cold winter months and they can be dressed up and dressed down easily.  Whether you combine them with a nice cozy sweater or a fitted polo during the day, they also go nicely with a sparkly or bold top at night.  Plus leggings are a go to when you don’t feel like wearing tight jeans but still want to look like you put effort into your outfit.

  2. Tops that can be dressed up or down are also a great idea to have handy. You can throw on cardigans, blazers, or just wear sneakers with your dressier looking shirts during the day to make them more casual. You can also combine them with nice flats or heels and jewelry at night to make them look more appropriate for the nighttime.

  3. Try to only have one or two pairs of heels in basic colors.  Try to avoid getting those shimmery or really awesome heels that don’t really match with anything and instead get a pair of black or nude ones.  They go with everything and you don’t have to struggle to match them with the shirts you want to wear.

  4. Instead of going out and buying more clothes for the weekend because you’re afraid that you don’t have enough, try and buy more accessories instead.  The way your outfits look can change a lot depending on the necklaces and earrings that you wear with them.  Instead get creative and bold: try to find a cool chunky necklace or a bright colored scarf that you can match.

  5. Dresses are not only cute but they are effortless.  The only problem is that there are dresses for different times of the day so instead of buying several dresses try to get dresses that look cute matched with other things. Try to put a nice sweater over your dress or get a cute skirt to put over the bottom of your dress. This way the same dress that you love you can wear a lot without anyone spotting you outfit repeating. With the cold weather approaching, make sure you stock your drawers with warm tights to wear with your dresses as well!
