Name: Sinead Roban
What is your role in McAC?
This year, I'm the chair of the Multicultural Committee. This means that I oversee the planning of several on-campus events to celebrate different cultures and parts of the world.
What's your favorite part about the position?
My favorite part about the position is working with my committee members. They bring amazing ideas to the table and are all very dedicated to putting on our events. It makes my job a lot easier.
What are some challenges your division faces?
The biggest challenge of planning events on campus is working around everyone's busy schedules! This includes booking spaces, scheduling meetings, and getting students to attend our events.
What is something you hope to accomplish?
My main goal as committee chair is to bring Barnard students a taste of different cultures through food, music, etc. while giving them a mini vacation from the demands of academic life. I think we've done a great job with that this semester!
What are other activities you're involved in, on- or off-campus?
On campus, I'm a member of an organization called Students to End Modern Slavery (STEMS). I'm also involved with an awesome non-profit called Rock and Wrap it Up! which works alleviate hunger and poverty across the country.
What do you like most about Barnard? Least?
My favorite thing about Barnard is the amazing friendships I've formed. The love and support from my Barnard sisters make the stress of college life more manageable.
My least favorite is how quickly time flies. My sophomore year is almost over, but I still remember NSOP like it was yesterday.
What are you most looking forward to in April?
I'm really looking forward to Spirit Day later tomorrow!
