From a young age, we are taught on how to love others, but not much on how to love ourselves when there is no one around. I’ve spent a lot of time dwelling on this and have to say its a daily thing. It’s not easy and some days are horrible. It’s so difficult some days to look in the mirror and like everything you see and not be disappointed in some ways. Being a college girl that is constantly around girls who hate and point out their flaws is hard not to look at your own. So girlfriend, don’t ever join in on those talks, because once you start to say something, then you may start to believe it and there is nothing about you that you should hate. In the words of Hannah Montana, nobody’s perfect. I’m not perfect and neither are you, but that’s okay because we weren’t created to be.

Okay, now read it again. Slowly. Count the times the word beautiful appears. Yes, seven times. Seven times the word that you are is stated. Being beautiful is not just the stereotypes that society sets out for us. Beauty is born within you. Despite all the growth, nothing about our innate beauty has ever changed. I’d say, own that, rock it and flaunt it. Know your beauty. Be sure you’re the one defining what that means to you. Dare to look beyond flesh and bone, but dare to love the beauty of your body too. It’s all kinda necessary to life.
