Name: Leah Suzor
Hometown: Woodbine, Georgia
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Favorite Movie: Meet the Robinsons
Favorite Place To Study On Campus: I spend a very large amount of time on the second floor of Gorgas. I don’t seem to be productive anywhere else.
Q: What has your experience been like as an out-of-state student?
A: “Georgia is relatively close to Alabama, so it isn’t too much of a difference. The absence of UGA fans is very nice.”
Q: Why did you choose your major?
A: “I’ve always had a passion for engineering. This led me to become the captain of the robotics team, and there I discovered I loved robotics. Robotics and mechanical engineering have the best connections, so there you go!”
Q: What was it like working for the national parks over the summer?
A: “Life-changing, honestly. I worked for the Youth Conservation Corps on Cumberland Island National Seashore, which is just off the coast of Georgia. There, I worked with five other people that were either about to start their first semester of college, or were still in high school. We cleared trails, built a boardwalk, and learned about the environment on the island. During that summer I grew so much as a person, and built some strong friendships with the people I worked with.”
Q: If your life were an ice cream flavor what would it be?
A: “Chocolate chip cookie dough, because my life is delicious.”
Q: What is the best concert you’ve even gone to?
A: “I saw Paul McCartney last year with my younger sister, and it was amazing. Now every time someone brags about the best concert they’ve been to, I can say ‘But did you see a former Beatle?’”
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: “I love being outside, and taking naps while outside.”
Q: What’s the best advice you have ever gotten?
A: “You’re not a problem. You don’t have to fix yourself.”
